Today our wonderful vet Dr. Ethan came out to adjust one of our mares and of course we had to have him look at Gideon. We walked and trotted up and down and then anxiously waited for the verdict. “Well he is still lame but not that head bobbing to the ground from before”. Woohoo that means progress! I explained how we are trimming him and working over different surfaces. I showed him the mud we are using to treat the thrush, which also appeared in his back heels as well. Dr. Ethan was very happy that so far the trims were working and hoped another cycle would put us even further sound, but reminded me we can always go to shoes if we need to go that route. He carefully explained how he liked the angle of the hoof in relation to the pastern. We agreed that his soles weren’t overly thin( he will check the rads to be sure) or he would be letting us know as we walked over our different surfaces. When I told him Gideon hadn’t been on Equioxx( a pain reliever) since a week after the Xray he was even more impressed! I told him about the Equivibe and how we use it daily when able. “Keep up the good work you are making progress”. It was so good to hear that we are for sure on the right path and we still have so many options to get him 100% sound. To have the Equivibe has really changed the way we are able to rehab our boy. I’m so glad to get that confirmation from our trusted vet. It may be getting so very cold but you better believe we will be standing our 30 mins on the Equivibe as much as we both can stand!
